CANCUN, QUINTANA ROO; MARCH 25, 2009.- Karina Celis Ruiz, 7,who lives in Cancun, and Renata Ramirez Esparza, 11, who lives in Playa del Carmen, winners of Child Drawing and Writing Contest “To Take care Water is to Preserve Life”, organized by the natural park Xel-Ha in order to strength consciousness about this vital liquid.

During the award ceremony, participation of many girls and boys of Quintana Roo deserve special mention in this contest celebrating the World Water Day, where children had the opportunity to share with Xel-ha’s mascots: Hu the Iguana and Mo the macaw.

CANCUN; QUINTANA ROO.- The Sales’ staff of Xel-ha Cancun lead by Laura Estrada, Sales Manager of Xel-ha, prepared the 10th Bowling Competition in order to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

More than 15 travel agencies and tour operators met at the well known Bowl in Paseos Cancun Mall at 21:00pm to start the fun.

This competition has been organized for 5 years now, and every year the different teams become stronger and stronger. that is why now it is a real competition.

Fifteen children and youths affected by cancer from Guadalajara, Jalisco, with ages ranging between 8 and 17 years, had their dream of seeing the sea come true, at a unforgettable day at Xel-Ha Natural Park, during their stay in Quintana Roo.

At Xel-Ha, these special guests were taken on a guided tour on which they were presented to many aspects of the region’s wildlife, and got to know the impressive inlet that unites the world’s most important underground river system to the Caribbean sea. They took this opportunity to swim in the inlet and enjoy a delicious meal at Chula Vista Restaurant.

During the inauguration of the “Humankind in Coexistence with Nature” exhibition at the Epson Gallery in Mexico City, of 21 selected opuses from 4th photography contest sponsored by Xel-Ha and Epson. Innovative perspectives of the world, showing different aspects and situations of human-natural coexistence were the main elements required by the companies, aiming to use these images as a way of spreading a conscience for the healthy interaction between humankind and our environment.

As a way to encourage creativity with digital media resources, Epson inaugurated the exhibition in its corporate gallery after reviewing over 2000 entries. Cecilia Garro, Xel-Ha’s head of marketing, alongside colleagues from the Park, were assigned the task of evaluating the pictures to choose the top three, which were chosen for their relevance to the contest’s central concept rather than for their use of professional technique.

Thanks to the sponsorship of eco-parks Xcaret and Xel-Ha, both from Quintana Roo, Mexico, the Threatened Species and Spaces in the Caribbean exhibition opened at the UNAM’s (National Autonomous University of Mexico) Universum Science Museum. This exhibition aims to spread appreciation for the ecosystems in one of Mexico’s most beautiful regions, as well as one of the most fragile in its biodiversity.

“The only viable alternative to achieve the preservation of biodiversity, and simultaneously, a dignified social development for the inhabitants of this region, is to join our resources with those of academia, and base strategic decisions on scientific investigation, and successfully effectuate sustainable development”, remarked Iliana Rodriguez, during her speech on behalf of the natural parks that have endorsed scientific investigation on caring for the environment during several years.
