CANCUN, RIVIERA MAYA; AUGUST 2009.- A group of young volunteers native of Madagascar, Korea, Canada, France, Japan and Germany, sponsored by Vive Mexico C.A. and the UNESCO, made support activities to community in Chemuyil and knew the sustainable tourist recreation model, of natural park Xel-Ha, as part of activities of their visit in Quintana Roo.

Volunteers, whose are less than 25 years old, renovated the basketball court in Chemuyil and shared with children and young people from the community where Xel-Ha has worked on during several years in order to hold community development through different programs to enhance health, education, urban image, public services, and the responsible domestic waste management, as well as care of environment.

Cancun Q. Roo January the 6th 2009.- Xel- Ha and The Rotary Club of Cancun led by Laura Estrada and the engineer Jesus Munoz respectively,  joined for a second time in order to celebrate children from the Mexico neighbourhood located on the Federal highway to Merida City.

The Xel-ha family contributed with the King’s Cake just like they did a year ago and joined the Rotary Club to celebrate children with the traditional roll. At 11 o’clock in the morning Xelha and the Rotary Club of Cancun met at Mexico neighbourhood and little by little whole families appeared at the Palapa with a lot of children in theirs bikes and tricycle.

Many ring shape rolls were shared among present people and after a dance contest with Hu, land’s guardian of Xel-ha, complete rolls were given as main prize to the best and more likeable dancers.

This past Friday saw the inauguration of the Technological Training Centre in ChemuyilWith the donation of 14 computers for the use of children, youths, and adults. This contribution to the development of the population’s technological skills and reducing the digital gap, aims to improve economic and social development within the population.

The alliance between Flora, Fauna, and Culture of Mexico, Microsoft Mexico, and Xel-Ha Park is an example of how corporate social responsibility and civilian organisations can concur in actions that achieve positive results for society in specific projects, regardless of each party’s individual labour or purpose.

While professing Xel-Ha’s commitment to projects allowing the development of Chemuyil Community, a strong mission since 1997, Executive Director for the Natural Wonder, Elizabeth Lugo Monjarras, cut the inaugural ribbon for the perimeter wall of the Children’s Garden for this community.

Thanks to this new public work endorsed by Xel-Ha with a $65 thousand MXP donation, preschool alumni will enjoy a safer stay at the Children’s Garden, since the property was previously only fenced with wire mesh, which was already in an advanced state of deterioration.

Players for the little league basketball team, from the 1997-1998 category, which will be representing Quintana Roo in the 1st National Primary School Sports Games which will be held in Cuernavaca, Morelos, received backpacks, t-shirts, and caps as extras to their sports equipment; and as another bonus sponsored by Xel-Ha, they were able to meet and share some time with the Quintana Roo Pioneers, from the National Professional Basketball League.

These young athletes won their right to represent the state after the contest for the state finals was held in Chetumal, where they defeated the team from Cozumel with a score of 36-27. The team were students of Cancun’s Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Primary School. (more…)
