Chemuyil’s baseball field, seriously damaged in the wake of Hurricane Emily, was re-inaugurated with the name “Samuel Mukul May”, before a considerable gathering of eager sportspeople and fans, who will now be able to play the “[Inter]National Pastime” in far better conditions than ever before. The reconstruction was financed by Xel-Ha Park as part of the continuous effort to improve the standards of living in this small yet enormously important community, where 50% of Xel-Ha’s workforce resides.

Incredible sites of the Riviera Maya, particularly the Natural Wonder Xel-Ha, will be top story in Transworld Surf Magazine’s May-June edition. This popular US-based magazine targets surf and extreme sport fans with a circulation of nearly 100,000 editions in Europe, Canada, and the USA.

Giancarlo Maldonado, top scorer of his team Potros de Hierro del Atlante, Cancun’s recent champions to the maximum football tournament in Mexico, decided to kick off this New Year to a grand ecological start. Maldonado visited Xel-Ha along with his family, sharing the magical co-existence with life and presenting our Natural Wonder with a new child. The Chacah Garden was graced once more with celebrity presences, and on this occasion, a sport star was contributor to the ecological heritage of Xel-Ha, planting a chacah seedling.  (more…)

In keeping with Mexican tradition, Xel-Ha cut the inaugural slice of Rosca de Reyes (literally “King’s Cake”) at a typical breakfast celebration, which was cheered on by Hu and Mo, Xel-Ha’s Park Guardians –more than happy to bring amusement to each and every boy and girl attending the event. In keeping with its annual tradition, Xel-Há recently had the opportunity to participate in the Juguetón 2008, a charity project endorsed by the Salinas Group and TV Azteca with the sole purpose of reaching children in underprivileged communities of Mayan territory, who often lack the resources to celebrate with toys and other gifts traditionally delivered on Día de Reyes. This catholic holiday, as important in Mexico as Christmas, emulates the arrival of the three eastern kings that brought gifts for baby Jesus. (more…)
