As the culminating moment to the celebration of his fiftieth anniversary of artistic career, the renowned Enrique Guzman, Latin rock-and-roll icon, took a recreational trip around the Mexican Caribbean, and took time to visit Xel-Ha Natural Wonder together with his wife Rosalba Welter, and son Enrique Guzman Junior.

During his stay at Xel-Ha, Enrique Guzman planted a Chacah seedling, at the garden where more than 80 celebrities from sports, arts and culture have contributed to the biological wealth of the park while engraving transcendent messages for the care and conservation of our planet.

Within the context of the “Tourism for Sustainable Development” course issued by the Institute of Economic Investigation, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Xel-Ha’s experience as a model project of sustainable development was acknowledged by university alumni and professors alike, after a thorough study of the modus operandi which this Natural Wonder undergone these last thirteen years.

During the work session in which Xel-Ha’s management philosophy was revealed, it was clear that scientific investigation and publication is instrumental for the success of sustainable tourism projects, to the point of risking their very viability if these facets are overlooked.

Self-proclaimed nature lover, the singer-songwriter Reyli Barba, from Chiapas, Mexico, visited Xel-Ha Natural Wonder and planted a seedling in the “Chacah Garden” in an touching event during which he sang to his new child and christened it “Good Boy”.

Glistening with emotion, Reyli wrote the following in the celebrity visitors’ log: “You were born today, good boy, by a sea of joy. Daily I will pray for the growth of your roots of kindness.” He then drew a triangle in the damp earth, around the stem of the newly planted tree, a symbol of the light that would guide it through its existence. The popular television show Póker de Reinas (Queen’s Quad), broadcast throughout Mexico on TV Azteca’s network, began transmitting a series of special features produced in Xel-Ha Natural Wonder. Hosted by Andrea Escalona, this feature presented actor Daniel Elbitar as its special guest. Elbitar is well-known in all Mexico thanks to his role as the mechanic Antonio, in the soap opera Tengo Todo Excepto a Ti. (more…)
