Ejido La Flor, Municipality of Mapimí, Durango-. As part of the Nature Conservancy Day, and to close the 5th Conservancy Week, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico (SEMARNAT) and the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP) carried out the sixth edition of the Nature Conservancy Awards, in the following categories: academic, individual, civil and business society, and local authorities.

On September 6th, Xel-Há was rewarded as one of The Best Working Companies for Women in Mexico.

The institute made a ranking last year of the Best Companies to Work for in Mexico between 289 companies. This ranking helped carry out the list of the best working companies for women, which was done based on a survey of 63 questions that were applied to all the personnel. Many aspects of each company were considered in the evaluation; the survey, the company’s practices and its policies.

The criteria implemented to reward a company as one of the Best Working Companies for Women is the following:

  • A satisfaction rate in women of 70% or more.
  • More than 25% of women must be part of the collaborating personnel of the company.
  • The number of women in executive and management positions.
  • The quality of policies and practices related to women within the company.
  • From the year 2002 until today, Xel-Há has been in the list of The Best Companies to Work for in Mexico®. This year Xel-Há competed to be one of the Best Working Companies for Women in Mexico.

    The award was received by Lizbeth Santoyo, Public Relations Manager of Xel-Há.

    Xel-Há Park is proud of creating a magical place in the heart of the jungle where we can all share our commitment to nature. Many celebrities have participated in this important project by planting trees. Today it is the anniversary of reforesting Xel-Há and the famous guests that will be visiting the Chacahs Garden are Enrique Rocha, Analia Arruti, Annette Michel, Guadalupe Loaeza, Nancy Contreras, Hannia Novell, Iñaki Manero, Alberto Aguilar, Manuel Youshimatz, Diana Bracho, Ana Maria Alvarado, Luis Hernández and shortly José Luis Cuevas

    In addition to this important celebration, the Land of Huh or Bicycles Station will be inaugurated. When this 850 m. long path was built, 5000 plants were rescued and are now conserved at Xel-Há’s Tree Nursery.

    The idea to carry out this $1,100,000.00 pesos project was born in 2005, but it had not been able to conclude due to the past hurricane seasons. Today it is now a beautiful reality.

    With ecological attractions such as Chacahs Garden and Land of Huh, Xel-Há Park grows in options for all visitors in search for a responsible contact with nature.

  • Reward the best photography at the Third National Contest “Natural Wonders”.

  • Mexico City. – The Third National Contest of Photography EPSON & Xel-Há was rewarded today and the subject was “Natural Wonders”.

    It is important to mention that this contest had great acceptance from the public, closing with a total enter of 2,262 photos.

    The jury of the contest was made up by representatives of Xel-Há and EPSON who chose the best three photos. The three first place winners were rewarded with the latest EPSON products and a double trip to the Mayan Riviera with free entrances to the Natural Wonder Xel-Há.

    The first place winners of The Third National Contest of Photography EPSON & Xel-Há are David Eduardo Morales Barba with 1st Place; Mauricio Eduardo Lozano del Valle 2nd Place; and Adrián Vejar 3rd Place winner.

    The first place winning photography’s together with the 22 finalists will be displayed at Galería de Arte Digital de EPSON (EPSON Digital Art Gallery) in Mexico City during June and July 2007. These selected photographs will also be admired at the III Foro de Expresión (3rd Forum of Expression) organized by Xel-Há next September in Cancun.

    Fideicomiso para la Promoción Turística de la Riviera Maya (The Riviera Maya Tourism Promotion Board) along with Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya (The Riviera Maya Hotel Association) supported the Third National Contest of Photography EPSON & Xel-Há with the intention of continuing the contest each year.

    The Environmental Guardians program has been carried out for almost one year in elementary schools, offering children a message of ecological awareness. The Natural Wonder Xel-Há has delivered 3000 Environmental Guardian cards to children who also received a diploma with the Guardian Oath and a basic entrance ticket to the Park.

    The Environmental Guardians program aims to create an ecological culture among the new generations. The goal is to reach all the schools in Cancun and Playa del Carmen by the end of this year.
