The renowned Mexican magazine Poder y Negocios, with a biweekly 65000-copy circulation, dedicated its 21st edition to 15 Mexican companies with excelling ecological operation, including Xel-Ha Natural Park, in Quintana Roo.

The publication emphasised the labour carried out by Xel-Ha since 1994, operating on sustainability standars, while simultaneously representing an important attraction within the Cancun Riviera Maya destination, receiving an average 750 thousand visitors a year, providing employment for over 500 people, and actively participating in educational-ecological programs for tourists, professors, children, and several different groups of visitors.

“For us, caring for the environment is fundamental, being that it represent the main source of employment, and it is the company’s raison d’être to share this natural wonder with all our visitors. If it is destroyed or neglected, we will forever deprived of this marvellous place, and the employment source it implies.” This was the statement of Elizabeth Lugo, Xel-Ha’s CEO, to Poder y Negocios, as published in the article written by Diego Cevallos.

“Poder had the goal of identifying, by means of different instruments and specialised sources, a few of the most distinguished national companies in the environmental sense. The result was a list of fifteen companies that stand out in a universe of 2.9 million existing establishments around the country, and that generate 64% of existing jobs,” pointed out the magazine before presenting a brief description of each company, and emphasising: “the list is, most importantly, an acknowledgement to the effort made by the financial sector (from the greatest corporations to small businesses) for contributing to improve the environment.”

Also on Poder y Negocios’ list, the following companies were mentioned for their outstanding labour: Bimbo Group, Telmex, Modelo Group, FEMSA Beer, Ecofreeze International, Kumiya Ecotourism, Pochteca Group, Zuum Group, Inmex, Alkali Industries, Environmental Promoter, The Green Corner, TIP Furniture, and Urbi Urban Development.
