Children suffering cancer have their dreams come true
Posted by: dvillacis in News feature, Special EventsFifteen children and youths affected by cancer from Guadalajara, Jalisco, with ages ranging between 8 and 17 years, had their dream of seeing the sea come true, at a unforgettable day at Xel-Ha Natural Park, during their stay in Quintana Roo.
At Xel-Ha, these special guests were taken on a guided tour on which they were presented to many aspects of the region’s wildlife, and got to know the impressive inlet that unites the world’s most important underground river system to the Caribbean sea. They took this opportunity to swim in the inlet and enjoy a delicious meal at Chula Vista Restaurant.
A visit to Xel-Ha is scheduled annually by My Last Wish, a non-profit organisation with the objective of fulfilling the dreams of terminal stage patients who wish to see the breath-taking Caribbean sea. Tomas Fernando Lopez Jimenez, head of the organisation, pointed out during his visit that only thanks to the efforts and goodwill of people and organisations such as Xel-Ha that it is possible to carry out the aforementioned labour; thus granting a wonderful wish to a great many children and youths that face the tragedy of such a dismal condition such as cancer.
My Last Wish is a healthcare centre for children and youths with little to no income. It looks after children mostly from the western region of Mexico, supporting them in lodging, food, medication, clinical studies and analyses, prosthesis, transport, recreational activities, and trips to different tourist destinations around the country and abroad, as well as funerary expenses and applications.
The group of happy travellers was made up by: Marina Huerta Perez, Enedina Garcia Medina, Anahi Limon Ortiz, Ana Isabel Nuñez Santiago, Karla Fabiola Palacios Watanabe, Aurora Estefania Gonzalez Ortega, Milagros Noemi Ruiz Montoya, Veronica Milagros Vazquez Negrete, Juan Martin Galvan Chairez, Aram Zurita Ricalde, Fernando Jimenez Magaña, Josue Enrique Valerio Alarcon, Sergio Alain Rodriguez Loza, Alex Saul Villanueva Ceja, and Christian Rodriguez Ortiz.
