Entitled “Humankind in Coexistence with Nature”, Xel-Ha Natural Wonder and Epson launched their convocation for the 4th Photography Contest, 2008 Edition, which aims to encourage creativity and the use visual technique in order to raise awareness about the environment on a national and international level, with prizes that range from modern photographic equipment to All Inclusive trips to the Riviera Maya, as well as wonderful experiences such as swimming with dolphins.

In accordance to its guidelines, the contest was open to all photographs on subjects relevant to humanity’s relationships with nature, which were required to be sent through the website es.xelha.com, in a *.jpg format with 72 dpi resolution. All top photographs would then be required in hi-res *.tiff format.

The first place winner will be awarded an Epson Photoviewer P-3000, as well as an Epson Stylus Photo 1410 printer, a trip to the Riviera Maya for two, including airline fees, lodging and meals for 4 days, 3 nights, with 2 All Inclusive entrances to Xel-Ha, and bookings to swim with dolphins. The second place prize is an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 printer, with photographic paper, a trip to the Riviera Maya for two, including airline fees, lodging and meals for 4 days, 3 nights, with 2 All Inclusive entrances to Xel-Ha.

Third place will be granted an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Printer, with photographic paper, a trip to the Riviera Maya for two, including airline tickets and lodging for 3 days, 2 nights, and 2 All Inclusive admissions to Xel-Ha.

Due to unpredictable schedule adjustments while coordinating the exhibits, the final deadline was pushed forward from September 15th to August 16th of the current year. The selection process for the top 21 pictures was underway during late August, and all photographers were promptly contacted. The best 21 pictures will be printed and exhibited at the Epson Gallery, in Mexico City, from September 16th, and at the Expression Forum, in Cancun, on the 25th. The three winners will be announced during the inauguration of the Epson Gallery’s exhibition.

The contest’s jury is made up of members of the Epson Gallery and Xel-Ha; their decision is without appeal. Airline tickets apply within Mexican territory, departing from and returning to the following cities: Monterrey, Guadalajara, or Mexico City. The awarded trips must be made during the months of November 2008, or January, February, or until March 15th of the following year.
