GUADALAJARA, JALISCO; SEPTEMBER 9.- Jorge Villalobos, president of the Mexican Philanthropy Centre (CEMEFI), summoned Mexican and Latin American corporations to join social responsibility movements, which, he remarked, will represent an important distinction in the private sector of the 21st century. This occurred during the 2008 International Seminary for the Best Socially Responsible Corporate Actions, wherein Xel-Ha received the Award for Best Socially Responsible Corporate Action, in the environmental category.

Quintana Roo’s underground water system, despite being the largest waterway network for its vast subterranean tributaries, is a system of severe fragility, whose water-basins must be protected in order to avert damage to its viability on medium and long terms, in the face of growing tourist industries and the implications this would have on Cancun and the Riviera Maya’s social and economical activities.

This is one of the most important subjects expounded on during the Threatened Spaces and Species in the Caribbean exhibition, on display at the UNAM’s Universum Science Museum, through the General Direction of Scientific Divulgation.

Cecilia Garro, Xel-Ha’s head of marketing, alongside colleagues from the Park, were assigned the task of evaluating the pictures to choose the top three, which were chosen for their relevance to the contest’s central concept rather than for their use of professional technique.

For the fourth year running, Cancun will be host to the Xel-Ha Expression Forum, held from September 25th to 27th, a stage open to the free manifestations of local artists, through a variety of art forms: painting, sculpture, music, dance, and photography. The Forum will once again be held at Kukulcan Plaza.
