Players for the little league basketball team, from the 1997-1998 category, which will be representing Quintana Roo in the 1st National Primary School Sports Games which will be held in Cuernavaca, Morelos, received backpacks, t-shirts, and caps as extras to their sports equipment; and as another bonus sponsored by Xel-Ha, they were able to meet and share some time with the Quintana Roo Pioneers, from the National Professional Basketball League.

These young athletes won their right to represent the state after the contest for the state finals was held in Chetumal, where they defeated the team from Cozumel with a score of 36-27. The team were students of Cancun’s Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Primary School.

When visited at their school by Xel-Ha Collaborators, players Eric Carr (post player) and Mauricio Ramos (wing) from the Pioneers, wished the young athletes the best of luck and urged them to make their very best effort in the encounters they will soon have to face.

These extraordinary students are: Omar Oropeza García, Sebastian E. Sanchez Galicia, Andres Monter Custodio, Juan Carlos Molina Romero, Gustavo Hernán, Cetina Pérez, Cristian Aceves Vela, Amir Seed Dominguez Gándara, Rafael Arturo Sosa Mut, Francisco J. Montoya López, David Martinez Aguilar, Gabriel Lara Rendos, Alexis A. Vázquez Llanes. Their coach is teacher Janeth Peña Trujillo. They will be competing between June the 23rd and the 29th.

The state representative team will be travelling to Morelos thanks to the grant given by the Education Secretariat of Quintana Roo State (SEQ), and the National Sports Commission (CONADE).
