Giancarlo Maldonado, top scorer of his team Potros de Hierro del Atlante, Cancun’s recent champions to the maximum football tournament in Mexico, decided to kick off this New Year to a grand ecological start. Maldonado visited Xel-Ha along with his family, sharing the magical co-existence with life and presenting our Natural Wonder with a new child. The Chacah Garden was graced once more with celebrity presences, and on this occasion, a sport star was contributor to the ecological heritage of Xel-Ha, planting a chacah seedling.

Maldonado, only recently married, could not keep his hands off his wife, constantly demonstrating how taken he is with her. While riding the bicycle path together, he remarked on how the seedling would not in fact be his first child, having several little pairs of feet running around his house, only to reveal that he was actually referring to his pets.

Giancarlo Maldonado enjoyed his stay at the eco-park enormously, after planting his hope for nature and taking pictures alongside park workers, much to the thrill of all Xel-Ha’s staff.

The Chacah Garden was created as an attempt to symbolize hope and eternal life in the manner of a marvelous landscape of chacah trees. This symbolism goes far back into the era of the ancient Mayans, where every single, separate living being was the reflection of a divine teaching, a message for the human mind to fathom.

Moreover, today we can admire a beautiful Eden of these trees, typical in the Mayan region, planted by more than eighty important celebrities, who have professed in said manner their empathy and commitment to the salvaging and protection of Nature.
